Reply to what is the secret to writing blogs more often.

Can't think of anything to write or can't think of a topic that would wow everyone who ends up on your blog?

I think an issue some of us have, is that we know very diff people with virtually little or no intersecting interests. So we can't think of a topic that would please everyone who pops in on the blog.

One level deeper is that what we blog is not yet perfect, not polished.. I personally have a ton of drafts and Most of what i do end up posting are things I write in 10 mins , this note being a great example.

Yet even deeper, we worry that what we actually post will define us. Cheesy posts and silly comments and stupid feedback and advice .

Advice: well coming from me it won’t mean much … I rarely update anything myself, but here are my tips and i hope they work for you ..

1- Diversify .. multiple blogs with multiple topics, chances are people with diff interests will never inter-lap.

2- Writing is a process, drafts are a good idea .. make plenty … and get the courage to accept that it will never be perfect, post when its close to what you mean, post fixes and replies … later. screw the perfectionist in you .

3- In my experience a lot of the people who post a lot are unaware of their own shortcomings(that often means they like the piece too much, don’t have a critique’s eye or simply don’t know they suck). but one thing we do envy them is this .. they do it out of passion and they have fun doing it .. and we forget pieces that suck quicker than we forward pieces we like.

4- If it helps .. preset rules on how far you will go , how personal you intend to get, how serious or detailed things should be ,how often you should blog.

Now if you’ll excuse me my ten mins are almost up and I need to go take my own advice :P

Long explanation for a stupid information

Stars seem to shy away,
when the sun brings the day.
Nothing to hide and nothing to fear,
yet in its presence they just disappear.

The reason of course is the brightness,
almost to the point of blindness,
which eclipses every tiny star,
struggling to shine from afar.

And its a long explanation,
for a stupid bit of information,
on why, when you suddenly smile,
my whole world is eclipsed for awhile.

Swept to old age no shelters exist.

Based the silly Zen Kitten's words.
- I tried to put it in the  form of a sutta/sutraa -

Impermanence lurks at every corner,
Every moment is discreetly anew.
Every minute we are a minute older,
Every straight will become askew.

Everything built will be gone,
Everything done be undone,
Everything born will die.

So treasure every rising instant.
Savor every passing  moment,
As you see its every "now" fly.

With the light of a new awareness in your eye.

If life is a lesson

If life is a lesson its one h3ll of a session,
and I really hope the test is Far...

And I'm without worry, though I didn't study,
I zoomed through like a fast car.

I appreciate every nick, bump and crack,
Sometimes held high but mostly fell back,
I don't regret anything I've done in vain,
Buddhists get to take the course again*

*wrote this as reply to a friend ... last part is meant as a joke
I would really like to believe there is a life after death ..
Reincarnation is particularly a nice idea...
Call me a kill joy but I think when you die,
that would be the end of it all .

Life is: Still motion

Life is: Still Motion

Life is: still motion! Infinite instants,
played by frame on the reel of tide;
Broken love and snatched moments,
answered prayers, dreams denied.

For a very close friend.

Why Do I Write?

I pain, then write to quote my pain. In a nutshell.

Started to write because I get a better sense at things when I read them  .. To "have a look" at a thought;a couple of rhyming words;  a story  that just hang around, telling itself in the back of my head like a catchy tune.

Around age 20  I learned that what you write for someone can make them feel 'better'. So I wrote things for one person's eyes.

The pantheon of goddesses that swept through my life, taught me that, some of the things I write, are enjoyable to read; I must admit its fun to try and manipulate logic and environment;
To make a small effort knowing someone will read the text, followed by the mild surprise of someone liking it.

Heart of stone

click on the pic to see original location.

I am well placed to know,
Some people think it cannot love,
But it cares for friend and foe;
Nothing weakens its resolve.

Unbiased; it waivers not to emotion.
Dwells on the street and in a loft.
But no amount of tears or lotion,
could ever make it grow soft,
or ever weaken it's devotion.

Another one of my 10 mins posts on DA  - For a friend who's always good for a laugh or a goof.

Crying Winter Tree (aka a photo of you )

Don't cry for your fallen leaves,
The spring will bring them new,
soon they will rise with the sun,
to shower in the dew...

re: Music was my first love....

Oh, music was my first love too
I was born with a tune in my head,
I sing it with every word I speak,
It flavored each book I've read...

But mine is always a mellow tune
it hums always despite my choices,
and if it brightens my rejoices,
the notes draw shadows on my gloom.

for you see it never imposes....
